The One Thing God Wants You To Know

I truly believe if there is one thing God wants us to know in this life, it’s His love. This is a truth for the believer and non-believer alike. Knowing that you are loved by God unlocks so much in life, your purpose, joy, existence and more.a

What is fascinating is that every person desires to be loved from birth. We begin life desiring love from a parent/s. I remember as a child I wanted the approval and love of my mom and dad, and even though I did feel loved by them, I still craved loved in other places.

In grade school, I wanted the love of friends.

In high school, I then wanted the love of a partner.

And in college I was looking for the love of partner to the point of marriage.

And so said, so done. I was chosen by my now husband. That should be enough to fulfill my desire to be loved, right?

some people never find love in this world, so they look for other ways to fulfill this longing, through careers, money, notoriety. But why? Why the money, the cars, the fame? Often times we are pursuing this to receive love and acceptance from others.`

What is wrapped as material acquirement, often is a desire for love and appreciation; a mindset that the more I have, the more desired, respected and loved I will be.

We desire love, because we are designed to be loved.

I’d like to compare two types of love found in the bible: Phileo and Agape.

Phileo love is the love of a brother it’s relational, it says you love me I love you too, you care for my stuff, I care for your stuff. It’s many times based on circumstances.

Love with Condition is Phileo Love

Agape Love is a love ONLY God can provide. This love says I love you regardless of what you’ve done or will do. You don’t need to do anything in order for me to love you more. My love for you is perfected from the very beginning of the world.

Agape Love is what we look for in people. But, I’ve learned you’ll never find it there. We are imperfect humans. No one can be love all the time. I admit there are moments where I respond in annoyance to my own kids. I’ve had a long day I’m super tired and the countless commands come in. I may respond with a short temper, and you know, that’s not responding in love. GOD is not like that, He responds in LOVE all the time. Even if the loving response may be constructive. Love will say, hey I love you, but love will also say hey you’re wrong here and this is why.

God’s rules are founded in love. And, so often times when we think about God we think about a super judgmental figure, who’s ready to tell you what you’ve done wrong, and though God is a judge, the scripture tells us God FINDS NO PLEASURE IN JUDGEMENT,

Why? Because He is LOVE first.

This is a mystery.

As I grow deeper in my faith in Christ. I understand that we are designed for love because He is love. This longing is never fully satisfied until we experience His love.

Maybe you are empty today or looking for love in the wrong places. I want you to know that you are loved by a person who created you. And, yeah life is a lot right now for a lot of people, but your pain is unique to Him, something only He knows, and can heal.

So, what is the one thing that God wants you to know? His love. He loves you today, not for what you’ve done or haven’t, but for who you are, just you.
